OUR SERVICES

Discovery's geologists and field staff have a breadth of experience on 5 continents working with a variety of
metallic mineral deposit types. Please scroll down to view the services we can offer.

Project Management
Discovery personnel have extensive experience with project design and implementation including the setting up, validation and maintenance of databases. Effective database design organizes information so that it may be either analyzed in its entirety or divided into discrete layers in order to derive the maximum amount of information from any given data set. Databases are constructed to the particular needs of projects. Our geological and support staff compile, verify and manage large quantities of information. Our database management experience covers the preparation of assessment records, record filing for government (including tenure management), regulatory filings, and the validation of data while performing due diligence in the preparation of 43-101 reports. As well we routinely file permitting applications and prepare reclamation bonds with the appropriate governmental authorities.

Tenure Management
  • Fully computerized to work with BC Ministry website - Mineral Tenures On-line (MTO) system.
  • Extensive experience in tenure acquisition and tenure maintenance in Canada and the US.
  • Extensive experience in Bureau of Land Management (BLM) permitting, bonding and bond maintenance in Nevada.
  • Designed and implemented an in-house 90-day tenure reporting system that generates expiration date and work requirement information prior to claim expiration.

43-101 Reports
Discovery personnel have written numerous 43-101, Summary and Evaluation Reports on 4 continents.

Gridding and Linecutting
Discovery contracts and supervises line-cutting and grid emplacement for the control of geophysical, geochemical and geological surveys.

Prospecting
Prospector Cameron Barker exploring for porphyry copper mineralization associated with alkaline intrusive rocks in the Quesnel Trough of British Columbia
Discovery utilizes conventional prospecting as an integral part of its mineral exploration programs, under the direction of project geologists. Experienced prospectors are also frequently deployed on heavy mineral and stream silt sediment programs to lend an extra dimension to such programs. The availability of 'trained eyes' in such programs has often proven to be a cost effective method of detecting and localizing mineralized occurrences in the early stages of exploration programs and can immediately help in focusing attention on areas that may require further work.

Mapping
Geologist Edward Harrington mapping trenches in the Puna of northwest Argentina
Discovery personnel design specific geological mapping programs to capture all available geological data on properties. Mapping can comprise of: the measurement and sampling of stratigraphic sections; the acquisition of structural and metamorphic data; and the detailed interpretation of same. Discovery geologists have experience in underground, detailed grid, and regional reconnaissance mapping. This mapping is combined with available geophysical and geochemical data to form a comprehensive interpretation of the property geology.

Geochemical Surveying
David Strain preparing sample bags for the collection of heavy mineral stream sediment samples in the Eskay Creek area, British Columbia
Discovery has carried out numerous geochemical surveys including heavy mineral stream, sieved stream silt, moss mat, till, soil, and lithogeochemical sampling programs.

We specialize in the design, implementation and interpretation of regional scale heavy mineral and sieved stream sediment surveys, the latter supplemented with moss mat sampling as needed.

Materials derived from these various surveys and programs are analyzed under our direction at accredited commercial laboratories, using appropriate analytical techniques and QA/QC controls. The resulting information is then interpreted within the geological and geophysical contexts to define areas of potential mineralization, as well as to define areas of low potential. The latter can be especially important when large land positions need to be trimmed so as to preserve exploration capital.

Geophysical Surveying
Rick Mitchell carrying out a combined Magnetometer/VLF survey using a GEM Systems GSM-19 unit
Discovery employs ground geophysical surveys, including magnetic, electromagnetic and radiometric techniques, to aid in the interpretation of subsurface geology.

Discovery can also arrange subcontracts for airborne and ground geophysical surveys.

Where necessary Discovery can call on the services of consulting geophysicists to offer advanced interpretation of geophysical data.

Drilling
Reverse circulation drilling using a tracked drill rig on an exploration program for epithermal gold mineralization in Nevada
Discovery has designed, contracted and managed numerous diamond-drill and reverse circulation programs.

These projects have been managed from the negotiation of contracts through drilling supervision, to the presentation of assay results and lithological logs in a final report.

As part of any drill program we carry out QA/QC procedures including the insertion of blanks, standards and duplicates into the sample stream to ensure the validity of the final results.
